Celebrating Dr. Jennifer Colón's scholarly achievements
This academic year has been an active time for Dr. Jennifer Colón, assistant professor of Spanish. She has done such a marvelous job coordinating Phi Sigma Iota and the Spanish program at Jewell. But that doesn't mean that she hasn't kept her scholarly life active. Today we'd like to celebrate her three achievements. In scholarly achievement, she has presented at two conferences, reading her paper, "Ysrael/No Face takes Campbell's Hero's Journey in Drown by Junot Díaz" at the Mountain Interstate Foreign Language Conference in Roanoke, VA, in October 2010 and "La imagen de una mujer: un estudio de género en Mujeres de ojos grandes por Ángeles Mastretta" at the Kentucky Foreign Language Conference in April 2011. For scholarly service, she chaired the session, "Women Writers of Spain and Latin America" at the South Atlantic Modern Language Association conference in Atlanta, GA in November 2010.
